Festive decorations make our homes & businesses feel oh-so-magical over the holiday season! Putting them up & soaking in their joyful ambiance is something I look forward to. Taking them down on the other hand....not so much!

We left our decorations up until New Years Day and have been plugging away bit by bit until today. Here's a few tips & tricks that have made the process run a little more smoothly for us this time around...

  • Sort by type ornament & use for easy peasy set-up next year.
    • As we 'un-decorated' we placed similar items together on our dining room table: garlands & wreaths, lights and tree decorations, musical decor/snowglobes, stockings etc.
    • Bonus tip: Clear bins & labels make for quick identification when you pull these bad boys out next year!
  • Keep your decorations in holly jolly shape for next year with these storage tricks:
    • Store fragile items safely in egg cartons or cardboard tubes
    • Use ziploc bags for small items like mini tree ornaments
    • Wrap lights around a piece of cardboard to limit a stage 5 tangle situation
  • If you send greeting cards, send yourself an email with anyone you’d like to send cards to next year as you're taking down the ones you received this year.
    • Most email platforms have a search feature that will allow you to easily find the email. I like to use subject lines like Greeting Card Contact List. With gmail, you can also assign labels or move into folders for speedy access.
  • Donate or toss any unused, broken or just plain annoying decor.
  • Leave any “seasonal” decoration for last - porch planters, twigs, snowflakes can still make winter a little more fun!
  • Don’t be afraid to break your demo into a few sessions. When there's much to accomplish, start with one piece at a time!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! Happy New Year & Happy Decoration Demo-ing! As always, if you could use a hand, we're here to help!

Tuesday Tips! Cleaning tricks to save you time!

When it comes to cleaning, my team and I have tried countless products, strategies and hacks in an effort to be as efficient as possible for our clients. We love being able to accomplish more & more at every visit.

Here's a few little tricks I have up my sleeve to make our cleaning regimen run a little more smoothly...

Magic Sponges are my best friends!!! These bad boys are my secret weapon. I use them in a multitude of ways. Here's a few of my faves:
  • Scrub your glass shower doors with a magic sponge before cleaning to remove hard water stains and more! Sticky or persistent grime on your windows or mirrors? This little trick works well, too!
  • Dirty hands & fingerprints on doors, walls and trim? Give it a wee scrub with your magic sponge and wipe with a damp cloth to get things feeling sparkly again.
  • Hard, cooked-on food stuck to your stove top since the last millennium? Use your magic sponge to restore the it's former beauty. Follow up with a damp wipe and boom! Oh so shiny!

These little warriors remove so much dirt it's unbelievable!

We have ceiling fans above our beds throughout the house. It's crazy how fast the dust can accumulate, and I certainly don't want dust sprinkles showering my head during my beauty sleep. I love to keep my fans dust free, but I hate having the dust fall below where we sleep while I'm trying to clean them.

I recently found a great trick...
  1. Find an old pillow case.
  2. Slide it over one of the blades, so the entire blade is inside the pillow case.
  3. Use your hands to pull the pillow case back towards you, pulling the dust from the fan into the case.
  4. Follow up with a damp cloth and wipe any remaining residue.
  5. Repeat for each blade.

I hope these two, Tuesday tips will save you a little time this week! Do you have tips to share? Leave them in the comments below!
